Building the Infrastructure for Tomorrow’s Energy

At Badgerland Connections, as a trusted renewable energy utility contractor, we are proud to play a direct role in advancing sustainable energy across the country. Our specialized utility installation capabilities allow us to support large-scale solar and renewable projects with precision, efficiency, and minimal environmental disruption.

Having successfully completed over 13 solar projects across the Midwest, our team brings the specialized machinery, skilled workforce, and deep industry knowledge required to keep complex renewable builds on schedule and within budget. We are actively executing project pipelines through the end of 2026 and are fully equipped to expand our renewable energy partnerships into 2027 and beyond.

Proven Track Record in the Field

When it comes to renewable utility infrastructure, experience and scale matter. Here is a snapshot of what our crews have accomplished on solar and renewable energy sites across the Midwest:

Plowing
Over 500,000+

Linear Feet of cable installed with minimal ground disturbance

Trenching
Over 118,000+

Linear Feet of precision trenching for complex utility runs

Directional Boring
Over 65,000+

Linear Feet of horizontal boring (pipe sizes ranging from 8” to 12”)

Completed Projects

Specialized Methods for Solar & Clean Energy Projects

Every energy site presents unique terrain, soil conditions, and environmental considerations. We deploy our versatile fleet and union-trained crews to execute the right trenchless and excavation methods for your site layout.

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Perfect for navigating sensitive ecological areas, existing tree growth, waterways, or roadways on solar sites without disturbing the surface. We handle 8” to 12” conduit runs with high-precision drill rigs.

  • Precision Cable Plowing

An exceptionally efficient, cost-effective method for laying vast runs of direct-buried AC/DC cable or innerduct packages across expansive solar fields while keeping ground disruption to a minimum.

  • Trenching & Excavation

Equipped with heavy-duty trenchers and excavators to manage deep-depth runs, equipment pads, and interconnect points to support all boring and plowing aspects of the project.

FAQ

These are some of the questions we get most often here at Badgerland Connections. If you don’t see yours in this list. Click the button below and we’ll see that you get an answer!

What geographical areas do you service for renewable energy projects?

While the majority of our solar and utility work is concentrated across the Midwest, we have the capacity, equipment, and union partnerships to deploy nationwide.

How do you handle challenging terrain or rock layers on solar sites?

In addition to horizontal directional drilling and plowing, we utilize specialized rock drills, rock saws, hydro excavation, and heavy trenching equipment to cut through difficult rocky conditions where standard boring isn’t feasible.

Can Badgerland Connections handle large-diameter pipe boring for energy sites?

Yes. We regularly execute large-diameter directional bores, having successfully completed over 65,000 feet of 8” to 12” pipe installations on renewable sites.
